Nuray Istiqbal
Nuray Istiqbal (born Kae Asakura on August 17, 1996, in Osaka, Japan) is a Japanese-Muslim content creator, social media influencer, and public advocate known for her spiritual journey and embrace of Islam. Formerly recognized under the stage name Rae Lil Black[1], she has since distanced herself from her prior career, focusing instead on faith-based content, gaming, and interfaith dialogue.
Spiritual journey
Nuray's conversion to Islam in March 2025 followed a transformative visit to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where she engaged with local Muslim communities and studied Islamic teachings.[2] Adopting the name Nuray Istiqbal (Arabic: "Light of Faith"), she described her decision as a "rebirth," emphasizing her commitment to Quranic principles and modest living. Her announcement drew global attention, with some Muslims praising her sincerity while critics questioned her motives.
