Jerusalem
Jerusalem (Arabic: القدس, lit. 'The Holy') is a city in the Southern Levant, situated on a plateau in the Judaean Mountains between the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea. As one of the oldest cities in the world, it holds deep historical and religious significance, particularly in Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. Jerusalem has been a central part of Palestinian history for centuries and is internationally recognized as an occupied territory under international law. The State of Palestine designates Jerusalem as its capital, reflecting the city's deep-rooted Palestinian identity and cultural heritage. However, Israel has unilaterally declared it as its capital and maintains governmental institutions there, despite widespread international rejection of its claim.
